Digiscoped Red-footed Falcon, Willow Tree Fen LWT

These images were taken with the aid of Jasmine and Eddie. Frankly, their youthful eyes provide a more accurate focus for the scope!
I risked the wrath of the warden to get this pellet. It is packed full of chitinous carapaces from the beetles the falcon was catching on the ground
I've circled a wing of a Four-spotted Chaser which was stuck to the falcon's underside. Strong evidence of at least one of the dragonflies it had been eating

Red-footed Falcon at Willow Tree Fen LWT

A sneaky bit of twitching just outside the PBC area (tantalisingly close!), near the delightfully named Tongue End. This moulting first-summer male appears to be the same bird as was in Staffs for weeks. It looked a bit tired and apathetic in the cold and I hope it survives...

Yet more Adder action

The familiar female 'Spotty' and a male (lower photo) which I have previously not photographed. According to my first efforts at measuring based on photos, this apparent male is about 75cm long, which is 25% longer than a male Adder should be!
