On 20.5.06 there was a hint of warmth in the air, which seemd to stimulate an emergence of Four-spotted Chaser dragonflies at Grummit's Scrape, Baston and Langtoft, Lincs. Half-a-dozen of them were on reedy stems pumping fluid into their wings or even just awaiting the splitting of their nymph skins. In this state, they are nice and easy to photograph, as they ain't going anywhere in a hurry... Canon Powershot A95

Found by Ray Bowell this morning (13.5.06), at Deeping Lakes LWT, Lincs, these four glorious Spoonbills are the first locally for a few years, and stayed for a few hours before typically departing, seemingly for good. Click 'em for bigger pics. Canon Powershot A95, Kowa TSN-823 + 32xWLER
